Vinyl man

Vinyl really is the future, present and past all grooved into one.

The Oxfam bookshop in Hertford specialises in selling donated pre-loved vinyl and my job is to clean the LPs, research the rare titles, price them and sell them.

Just recently I have experienced the ‘eureka’ moment on a couple of occasions: searching through piles of well-meaning donations of Max Bygraves’ Hits and James Last Does Reggae I came across two gems:

John Dummer's 1972 album ‘Oobleedooblee Jubilee’ and
Carol Grimes & Delivery’s LP ‘Fools Delivery’

both eagerly snapped up by faithful and knowledgeable Hertford collectors.
